LAURA DAY HELPS US HONE OUR INTUITION

“The only difference between people who use their intuition well and everyone else is success,” insists intuitive guide Laura Day in her latest book, “How to Rule the World From Your Couch.”
“You don’t have to be full of ‘get up and go’ to have success, find love, or even earn a living” she believes. “There are tools, innate tools, that permit you to do much of the heavy lifting without your feet ever touching the floor.”
An internationally renowned teacher and intuitive, Day has penned seven books with the goal of teaching millions how to create success using their intuition.
Her latest book is a step-by-step guide with exercises that are easy to follow, fun to play with — and lead to results that will amaze you.
So it was great to sit down with Day on the couch of her NYC apartment and talk about how more people can tap into their innate inner-knowing. Scroll down to read our Q&A.
Be Inkandescent: First, let’s give an overview of this topic. What exactly is intuition?
Laura Day: Intuition is our ability to extend our senses in time and in space. It’s not based on experience. It is just a quick instant knowing of what will be. We live in a unified world, and the brain is considered a limiting organ that can only deal with what is in front of us, and what is going on moment by moment and day by day.
That is actually a very healthy thing to do.
But understand that we also are like light. Our mind is able to act like a light wave and experience different realities, different people, different time zones. Bringing that information back into our daily lives for more functional operating systems, more informed ones, gives us the opportunity to understand life in a new and exciting way.
Be Inkandescent: What you teach really is practical information. In fact I happened to read your first book, Practical Intuition, published in 1996, the year after I had my daughter, Anna. It gave me wonderful insight as a new mom, and I have been a fan of yours ever since. Take us through some of the practical steps that can help people become more intuitive about themselves or more adept at using their intuition.
Laura Day: I wrote that book 20 years ago because I wanted to tell people that intuition was more than mysticism. Fortunately, today intuition has been studied by scientists, and there is a lot of proof that it’s more than hocus-pocus. People are seeing that these capacities of the human mind are not only verifiable, but useful when it comes to perceiving more than what the eye can see.
Be Inkandescent: Is that why you called the book “Practical Intuition” — because you wanted to expand the perception of intuition as a skill all of us have?
Laura Day: It was. Back then, when people talked about intuition, they were often speaking about past lives. Frankly, I have enough trouble with this one! What I wanted to show people is that they can access knowledge about practically anything to enhance their lives and their businesses.
One of the problems with intuition is that it challenges the natural boundaries of our thoughts and beliefs. So if you are skeptical, and you get information you don’t know how to place, it can be pretty weird — to say the least.
